There are conversions
for nearly every home computer and console. The quality was very varyiyng.
You 'll find ratings from - Gameboy
black and white 1991: |
- Gameboy color
1999: - Sega
Master System/GameGear: A very
accurate conversion compared to the weak 8bit-hardware. The GameGear-Version
is identical but has a lower resolution. - Amiga
1986: According to the german games mag "Happy computer" from1986
, this game was a middle sensation. This is true. Maybe this was the
first killer application for the new Amiga computer. |
That was unfair
for one of the players sometimes. The game was great, but today, where
you can compare it to the original version running in Mame, you are
surprised how much worse it is. - C64
1986: They even tried a C64-Conversion. That game was nearly impossible
to play, cause you newer knew where you really were and often died with
no reason. - Atari ST: Although
the Atari ST had similar hardware to the Amiga, this release rather
was a C64-conversion. Compared to the hardware, this version was extremely
bad. (My cousin and me began a better conversion back in 1986 before
this one was released, but we failed to finish it). |
- IBM
PC/XT 4.75 Mhz: Yeah! There even was a conversion for these trashy
CGA-Graphics. The colors naturally where light blue, pink, black and
white. Hardly playable game, but still great compared to the bad hardware.
(On an antique Tandy or PCjunior, you should have better graphics with
16 colors and better sound, but I never tested that). If you use the
enclosed software brake, this game still runs on modern Gigahertz-Hardware
(Win98). Steeringkeys are a, w, d and x. Great for a laugh and a nostalgia
flash! - Pentium PC
1998: Midway/Digital Eclipse
has released a collection
of Atari System 1 and System 2 games for Windows 95/98 called Atari
Collection 2. Although these are true emulations, it is faster
than Mame, cause it does not emulate the sound but plays it as huge
(huge!) samples. See section "Emulation" for more info. |
- Apple 2 GS: I have not tested this conversion, but the screenshots look good. - Sinclair Spectrum Marble Madness Deluxe Edition: I have not tested this conversion, but the ratings are great.- - Sinclair Spectrum Marble Madness Construction Kit 1986: I have not tested this conversion, but the ratings are great.- - Lynx: Since some years, this conversion is anounced. Screenshots are floating around. But as15 years ago, in the Atari scene many things stay announced forever. :-( - Atari Jaguar: Since some years, this conversion is anounced. But as 15 years ago, in the Atari scene many things stay announced forever. :-( - X68000: I have not tested this conversion. |
- NES 1988: I have not tested this conversion. - Sega
Genesis 1991: Rather perfect graphics like on the Amiga. (But no
analog controls possible!) Rather simple sound. - Armstrad/Schneider CPC64: I have not tested this conversion. - Playstation (Midway): This seems to be true emulation and very similar to the one for the Pentium PC. i - Pocket PC/Windows
CE: Released 2002 by IOBox/NuvoStudios. Plays like a true emulation,
sound seems to be realized by using low quality samples. You need at
least 200 Mhz to get decent speed. The pencil can be used to simulate
a trackball. Only one player game possible. Marvellous! |
